If my parameter is set as following:

log_archive_dest_2='Service=stdby SYNC AFFIRM VALID_FOR=(primary_log, online_logs) db_unique_name=stdby'

Then will the data guard work in Max Availability mode or Max Protection mode ?
[Note that Oracle Documentation says that for Max Availability mode, we can have attributes AFFIRM/NOAFFIRM with SYNC however for Max Protection, the doc says we need attributes AFFIRM SYNC]

I am aware that Max Availability mode first works in Maximum protection, however if Standby does not give acknowledgement to the Primary then, Data guard begins working as Max Performance.

This part as well is not clear! Can you please throw some light ?Pratik Mehtanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-940885937847335876.post-3707027707607790362013-06-22T01:44:22.604+05:302013-06-22T01:44:22.604+05:30yes , archives log files are generated on standby ...yes , archives log files are generated on standby database and secondly the below statement is not true "standby redo logfiles change vectors are applying to SGA of stand by database.
